Woods (2016-17)

These works marked a change in direction – with the woods (previously a backdrop to the hiding figures) becoming the subject of the artist’s anxiety. Pattern is used to disrupt our access and understanding of these images of the threshold of the woods. The pattern provides a disconnect, a virtual screen, between us and nature.
